It's not that he hasn't seen Poe in various states of undress before, but Finn still can't help checking him out in the crystal-clear water. Yep, still looking great, no change there. Poe Dameron is almost unfairly attractive, but then, Finn's probably biased because he's always got a smile turned in his direction.

"Good, cause I want to try some fresh fish! Damn, this water's nice." He splashes out a little further so he can barely touch the sand at the bottom. If this is typical for this planet, no wonder the whole place is billed as a tourist resort.

Wait, was Finn just checking him out...?

Nah. Stop overthinking things, Dameron.

"Well, if you want to go easy on my credit chit..." Because fish is probably going to be the cheapest thing here, considering the environment. He laughs, and follows Finn with a few easy arm strokes. "See, I have the best ideas."

Once near, he pokes fun in the shoulder and then twists away.

"No reason not to try it--hey!" Are they playing swim tag now? They can do that. Finn pushes off the bottom for a little extra speed so he can catch up for a return poke, heading off at a right angle toward the deeper waters so he doesn't have to completely lose his momentum. Maybe he should dive under to hide better? Opening his eyes underwater stings a bit but, like with his back, it's nothing he can't handle.

...It also gives him a less distorted view of the rest of Poe's body, which is no bad thing.

Finn catches on quickly--he always has. Poe immediately gives chase, kicking after him strongly. Hah, and then Finn dives, nice try. Poe's used to coat being three dimensional; he's more comfortable with this than chasing someone around on land, really.

He pretends to not see Finn and goes a little past him, just waiting to splash when he comes up for air.

Damn, Poe's not moving any farther away. Finn shoots up at an angle since he does, eventually, need air, but it's not far enough away not to get caught. After a few more rounds Poe emerges as the uncontested victor, and Finn raises his hands in surrender (once he's back in the more shallow area).

"You win, Poe. Does that mean I gotta buy dessert?"

Once they're done play fighting, Poe settles down to floating along on his stomach, head tilted out of the water. "I've never said no to a handsome guy wanting to buy me dessert. Thanks for volunteering."

Seems fair. They're at least earning their chow tonight.

It is only fair, if Poe's going to buy dinner. Besides, he'd do it anyway just because Poe likes desserts and calls him handsome.

Finn kicks up until he's floating on his back. It feels so good to be floating like that, looking up without pressure and not even needing a painkiller, that he doesn't even seem to care how very naked he is. "We ought to come back here, too. We can try out the other beaches, but this is a good size for swimming."

"Definitely," Poe agrees. "I don't think this would be good for surfing, but we'll make it our spot for swimming."

Our spot. In a friends only way. He's got this. He can do it. He's totally not checking Finn out, wet and glinting in the sun. Definitely not. Crap.

"Beach seems pretty nice too. Can just bring a blanket or two and lay around. Get some sun." He snickers. "Bring some food."

Finn lazily splashes in Poe's general direction at the mention of food. Now he's just getting hungry. "Maybe some towels. We gonna dry off in the sun or what?"

Not that he's ready to get out quite yet, but the trail does still go on a ways and there might be a good surfing beach somewhere else. Or a fishing spot. Poe mentioned he wanted to do that, too, and Finn isn't sure what makes a good fishing spot.

"Towels. If you want to get technical. But yeah, I figured dying in the sun today sounded nice." What's lazier than that, laying around on a beach during leave? He's looking forward to it.

Poe's not really sure how to fish either; from what dad taught him, fishing is just an excuse to sit around and drink lager, which sounds like a great thing to do on leave as well.

He flicks a little water at Finn in return. "Or we could just stay in the water and turn into fish. I'm okay with that too."

"I call that rock to dry off on. I want to eat the fish, not turn into one." He'd dry off on the beach, but getting sand in his scar seems like a bad idea and he likes looking up at the sky.

Also, he's starting to get hungry. Thanks, Poe. It's not that he has a one-track mind, he swears.

"Think there's a restaurant at the end of the trail?"

"If you really want to cuddle up with a rock, be my guest," Poe says. He figures he's got a. shirt and a flight suit, he can make it work on the beach.

What, Finn is hungry already? If course gee is. "Dunno. If we can find where BB-8 wavered off to, he'll have a map though." The droid, not made for water, had gotten bored and gone to poke around in the rocks nearby when they'd hit the beach.

"It ought to be faster cause the rock's been in sunlight," Finn points out, though he isn't paddling toward shore just yet. "Not saying I want to cuddle with it."

He does drift down out of the back-float and turn back to look at the beach, though, and calls out to the droid. "Hey, BB-8! Is there a restaurant along the trail somewhere?"

BB-8 stops prodding at the pebbles to roll a little closer so they can hear. (The map says there's one a few klicks out. Are you really hungry again?)

"And you might burn your ass on it," Poe teases. "Come on, it looks like a perfectly nice rock."

He can't help but laugh at BB-8's response. "He's always hungry. But hopefully it's the kind of restaurant with fancy drinks. I'm supposed to get fancy drinks, you know. Iolo said he'd quiz me when I got back."

"Better than getting sand up my ass," he shoots back, grinning. "Or sitting on my shorts. They're supposed to stay dry, remember?"

A quick lunch and some fancy drinks sounds perfect, so Finn starts heading back to begin sunning himself on the rock. They'll definitely have to come back here later, he thinks as he pulls himself up onto the rock and stretches out. Poe will probably look almost as good in a swimsuit as he does out of it; he does keep his eyes peeled to see if Poe chooses another rock or dries off in the sand.

"You planning on grinding on the sand?" Poe asks. Stop it, Dameron. Bad idea. No. "Guess you'll just have to watch and learn."

When they finally get out, Poe does retrieve one article of his clothing--the shirt--and spreads that out on the beach. He sits on it, legs stretches out to take advantage of the breeze coming out off the seat. Any sand that sticks to his calves, he's confident that the can brush off when he gets up. He wiggles a little, grinning. "Nice and comfy." Since sand's got a way of molding itself to fit around what's sitting in it...

Finn laughs and stretches out on the rock - it's hot, but the water cools it enough that it certainly doesn't burn him. Laying down feels almost as good as getting into the water in the first place had been.

He could really get the hang of this vacation thing.

Once most of the moisture has evaporated off, Finn flips over and props himself up on his elbows to look over at Poe. "I don't know what you're talking about, Poe. It's perfectly nice up here on this rock."

Poe's been leaving back on his hands, face turned toward the sun like he's going to just breathe it in. But Finn gets his attention immediately, and a bright smile. "That an invitation?"

Oops did he just say that...

"Thought you preferred the sand," he teases. "There's plenty of room up here, if you want."

He's getting close to dried off, anyway, in the direct sun.

Well, he did ask. Nothing weird here. Poe gets up and pauses to brush off a bit if sand clinging to his legs, then saunters over, shirt loose in one hand. He punks down next to Finn. "I think this is going to fry my ass like an egg."

"It's not so bad over here. Don't you want to dry off faster?" The rock is noticeably cooler where Finn had been laying before, thanks to the water evaporating.

"Then again, maybe pilots cook at lower temperatures." Finn's aware that doesn't make a whole lot of sense, but he is suddenly in very close proximity to a naked Poe, and it's different when there isn't a barrier of water separating them. He might be babbling slightly.

"You in a hurry for something?" Poe asks, and leans enough to bump his shoulder against Finn's.

Yep, they sure are naked and in close proximity. This was a dumb idea. He looks out over the sea.

"Nah, nothing hotter than a pilot." It's like Kare is speaking out of his mouth, which is bad.

Finn shrugs. "Habit, I guess." Okay, and he's hungry, but there's nothing unusual about that.

Poe's...not wrong, if he's any kind of example of pilots in general. Hell, Finn can feel himself heating up, and it has nothing to do with the sunlight. "Yeah?" Finn asks carefully. "What if I don't want to get burned?"

Oof. Well, it's just a joke. So Poe laughs, setting himself mentally back on course. "Don't worry, buddy," he says. "No flybys on friendlies without permission, it's a rule. Wouldn't want to accidentally cook someone in the afterburn."

Well. That's not quite the answer he had in mind, but if they're running with the metaphor....

"And if I was giving you permission?"
