"Mmm." He flexes his arm a little for Finn's appreciation, then settles his hand over Finn's stomach. "You changed your own life, Finn. And saved mine. Bravest guy I ever met."
And it had landed them here, which is probably the best bonus to not being tortured to death he's ever had.
"If you think I coulda done it on my own, you got another thought coming." He'll accept that he had a good part in Poe's rescue, sure, but it wasn't like he had a better choice at the time.
And Finn is very, very glad he'd made the right choice.
"Besides, I was afraid. I was terrified. You were the calm one, remember?"
"But that's the point," Poe says. "Real bravery isn't about doing what you have to do when you're stone cold and got your head down into the wind. It's being scared out of your mind and doing it anyway."
He offers Finn a light kiss. "Though okay, I did help a little once you got the ball rolling."
Finn is quiet for a while, thinking about it. Bravery is being scared out of your mind and doing it anyway? By that definition, sure, but isn't that what anyone would do? He kisses back first, yes, but Finn is distracted.
"But you can't just give up when things get tough. What good would that be?"
"But some people do," Poe says. "Most people. And that doesn't mean they're bad. It doesn't mean they're weak. Good people get scared and can't keep going. It means they need people like you'n'me to watch over them."
He knows the truth of it even as Poe says it. Hell, he'd seen it enough among the other Stormtroopers. "Someone to give them a push when they can't take the first step on their own. And they can go the rest of the way, but they can't start."
Just like Rey. She wouldn't leave Jakku until there had been no choice, and now? Now she's making her home among the stars.
"Yeah, and sometimes that, too." Another soft kiss. "And sometimes you just gotta be the one standing up for people who can't and saying no to the dark, rigth?"
Because if nobody fights for the Light, the Dark will win.
"Yeah." He kisses back, runs his hands lightly over Poe's muscular chest and abdomen again. "And you'll help me, won't you? So I'm not standing up alone."
He stretches, arches a little under Finn's touch, though he keeps his attention on the words. Because this is even more important than the fact that they're both naked and exploring this new territory. This is about a much more important future. "You can count on it," he says, smiling. "You know I'll come swooping in, just like Takodana."
