Finn, some day you will realize that Poe likes you better when you are your dorky self. Though being a dork is in itself an act of bravery, since it requires the confidence to not be worried what the people around you think.
"If you're hungry we can stop in. Get a drink and some food. And get something for the road too, since ship rations aren't that great." Hey, spaceflight picnic. It's a long enough transit to Yavin 4 that they're going to be sleeping a few nights on the ship and eating some ship rations, but no need to do that more than necessary.
Well, he hasn't forgot Solo's advice. Women always find out. Knowing General Organa, he absolutely believes it. She's terrifying on one level, and since she's the person he hopes to impress the most, he has to find it in himself to be brutally honest about himself around her. Does he want to impress Poe too? Sure. But that seems a lot less stressful, somehow.
"I'm always hungry," Finn admits.
(It's because he works out so much. Have you seen his muscles?)
"Hey, are you making fun of me? Come back here, you little brat." Finn starts chasing BB-8 down the hallway, laughing.
"Well then I better feed you!" Who knew what kind of gondark crap Finn had been eating for most of his life anyway?
"Of course I have," Poe answers BB-8 before he realizes it's a dumb thing to say. He just hopes Finn's paying more attention to the droid than him. But it's true--how do you NOT notice those muscles? Finn's a good looking guy.
Poe laughs and follows them. No need to intervene. Doesn't hurt to let BB-8 take the heat since he started it anyway.
Despite how busy the station is, BB-8 actually knows where to go; Finn doesn't have any trouble following. The cantina isn't quite as wild as Maz's watering hole, though he does get flashbacks to that old temple when he enters.
"Two sandwich meals for here and, uh, four more packed to go." He glances over at Poe nervously. Did he do that right? Is that enough? Should he get drinks? Maybe the drinks should wait till they get to their destination and Poe doesn't have to fly anywhere.
(You're going to want dessert. Poe always wants dessert.)
Poe catches up, arm going around Finn's shoulders briefly like it belongs there. "Dessert tray. Two of them." He grins at BB-8. "They keep really well. Give us something for the whole trip." And it'll give Finn a chance to figure out what he likes.
(They would keep the whole trip, if you didn't eat them. I bet you're just going to eat them all now!)
"Yeah, two dessert trays too. And we'll sit over there." He getures to an empty booth. They could sit at the bar, but--a booth sounds better. Finn completes the transaction and puls Poe down into the booth next to him.
"That's the first time I ever bought anything!" he hisses. "Did I do okay?"
"Maybe I will," Poe says to BB-8. "Someone has to eat your share."
He keeps an eye on Finn to make sure he gets the right change and everything, and the little symbol on a stick that will tell the server which table they're at. He hesitates almost imperceptibly and then slides into the boot across from Finn, stretching his legs out under the table.
"You did great. Like you've been buying stuff your whole life."
"Oh, good." Finn looks relieved. Okay, he knows he sounded nervous as hell at the counter, but he can't help that. "So how long before we get there once we leave?" He's guessing a couple days or Poe wouldn't have him order food. And honestly, they could both use the chance to catch up on some sleep.
Once the food comes, Finn digs in like he's starving and has to force himself to eat slowly. It's not timed here, they can take as long as they want, but old habits die hard.
"Four days," Poe says. "Since we got a fast freighter, lucky us. Should be pretty comfortable, individual bunks and everything. We'll have ship rations to pick up the slack, since i know the desserts aren't going to last that long." They'll be lucky if they last the day, really. "But hopefully you brought something to keep you busy. If you want some vids, we can hit a shop on the way out. Or I brought some books."
A lot of books. He's looking forward to catching up on his reading during this leave.
Poe, no longer fresh out of the field, takes his time eating, slowly wiggling his feet in a happy circle as he does, though he's trying not to poke Finn.
Finn. Finn, baby. Finn, no. Poe really wants to punch someone who isn't Finn. Starting with the thugs that abducted him from his home.
"We're going on leave. Vacation. Yeah, I want you to be familiar with the freighter specs if something happens, but you're smart, you'll have that figured out quick. And of course you can read up on the regs if you want. It's your leave, you can do whatever the heck you want, right? But maybe try out something that isn't work."
He does poke Finn lightly with his foot now, on purpose. "All work and no play is a great way to turn into a space crazy burnout."
Wait, why is Poe upse--oh, right. Things that aren't work. Finn ducks his head, embarrassed. "All right, but what else is there? I've watched all the First Order-approved vids like a hundred times each. I didn't see any Resistance-approved vids back on base?"
Poe might actually like the Clone Pilots series, even if it is ridiculously pro-Empire. But--there's an idea. "Maybe there's something about the Jedi I could find?" He had just expressed an interest in learning more about the Force, and even if they're dramatized fiction it might give him a better idea about it all.
Urge to pinch theoretical non-Finn person rising. But that's not Finn's fault, so he does his level best to keep it light.
"There's not Resistance approved anything, Finn. As in, you can watch or read whatever you want and it's no one's business but yours."
After a quiet electronic snicker from BB-8 he adds conscientiously, "Though if it's. Um. Pornographic you probably want to keep it to your bunk because that is a little... Unbecoming."
"Anything? And they don't confiscate it or send you to reconditioning?" Okay, he knows reconditioning's not a real thing in the Resistance, but still. Maybe they will have to stop and get some material after all, and there has got to be something about Jedi.
He nods absently at the clarification. "I sure don't have anything like that. Huh. Okay, we gotta stop there before we go, then."
(Finn you could just ask Poe--) BB-8 actually does stop there when Poe gives him a dark look.
"Yeah, sure, I'll take you by the different places one we're done eating." Everything is fine. Nothing wrong with a guy on leave wanting to score some porn. Nothing awkward at all. He'd do this for anyone.
Though is Finn going to want him to be in that shop? Well, he did start this. He can get his brain out of the gutter and firmly back where it belongs. Would certainly close the case on things if Finn just goes for the female humanoids, and that would be some closure, he supposes.

"There's actually a couple different places for books and vids," he continues on. "But I'll take you to my favorite. They've got the weirder selection, so you can find unexpected stuff. More fun that way."
See, he recognizes BB-8's words for his name and Poe's name, but he assumes the droid is talking about going shopping. "Thanks, Poe. Maybe you can show me which ones you like."
Is Poe talking about weird porn? Cause Finn's not sure he wants that. But regular books he can handle, and he makes a quick mental calculation for how many words he should be able to read over the course of a few days, nodding to himself.
When he finishes thinking about books and videos, he notices his sandwich is gone. On cue, the droid waiter comes over with one of the dessert trays and Finn's eyes widen. It's a combination of fantastic confections, fancy pastries and a couple small pieces of real fruit. "Damn, that looks good."
"Yes it does. And that's our reward for breaking dock and getting on our way."
Dessert orgy in the freighter, pass it on.
Poe takes possession of the food and a bag to put it all in, finishing up the last bits of his own sandwich as he does. "All right. Books first."
It's a bit of a walk to get to Shupers Stories, but at least the shop is right where he remembers and still crammed full of shelves with every possible kind of written media represented. Banks of data chips, yes, but even scrolls and sheaves of pages bound together with ribbon. "Fiction is over there. Religion is... Up that ladder. That might be where the stuff you want is. I'll be in the mysteries, there's some stores I need to catch up on..."
"Religion, right." Already distracted by the wealth of information around him, Finn has a hard time focusing. In the end he settles for four datachips and what appears to be an illustrated childrens' book with a little green alien and a lightsaber.
He could grab a lot more, but for now this should be good. Besides the childrens' book, he's grabbed BB Basics, Keepers of the Peace: Jedi Knights of Coruscant, Battle Techniques of the Mando'ade, and Palpatine: The Rise and Fall of the Galactic Empire.
Poe isn't just shopping for the trip, but with an eye to reading in the sun on the beach. He's got a good assortment of mysteries and historical romances, the sort of light fare that is perfect for relaxation. There are also a couple new histories about the origins of the Old Republic and its early days he grabs. Maybe Finn will like those too.
"Looks like we've got a good variety," he says to Finn. Though that's some heavy stuff. He didn't want Finn thinking he's done something wrong though, when he's finally getting to pick things for himself. "Maybe we can share some. Yours look interesting."
And maybe Finn could do with a bit of light escapism. It's worth a try.
Finn glances at Poe's pile - there are more of them, but the titles don't tell him much except the one about the Old Republic. "Sure. And look, I got this one so I can work more on your language," he says to BB-8, who gives him an excited nod and some chirping agreement.
(It's almost more fun when I know you don't understand, though.)
"Okay. Anything else you think we need before we pack up, Poe?"

This is stupid, Poe decides. Having a crush on someone is absolutely no reason to start second-guessing everything. So to take the best of both worlds, he leads Finn a little out of the way (not like Finn will know the difference) and there it is, the good ol' catering-to-humans porn shop, dark curtains in the windows, slightly seedy and embarrassing pictures, and all.
Poe waves the hand not occupied by bags vaguely in that direction. "Oh, Finn, did you want to...?"

"A New Ho, the continuing adventures of San Ho Lo, Princess Lay-me Orgasma, and Dick Groundrunner. I know you said everything was okay on base, but I think the General might actually murder me if I brought that back." Still, it gets a lingering look.
Probably to Poe's relief, the ones Finn grabs seem to be a mix of male-female, male-male, and male-male-female.
Poe is initially planning to just hang around outside the porn shop like a suspicious pervert, but he can't help wanting to just do a bit of spying.
And Finn sure does find a gem. "I'm never going to be able to get that out of my brain now," he snickers. "If I lose it in front of the General, I'm telling her you put me up to it."
But keeping a (non-creepy) eye on Finn's selections is illuminating. Either he has no idea what he's doing--though those covers are really not playing coy--or he's a man with a wide array of tastes. Maybe having a stupid crush isn't such a bad thing, if it's not entirely hopeless. Though that's really not why he brought Finn here.
"I'll be surprised if I see you at all during the flight to Yavin," he teases as Finn pays.
